Summer is coming!
On April Fool’s Day I came across various less credible things, but on a neighbour’s pile of soil there was some very credible looking colour again. The temperature was as high as 16°C in our part of the country that is quite an achievement for this time of year.
During the winter, like many other households, we have had to keep an eye on our electricity consumption because the new electricity subscription is no longer as cheap as it was in the good old days. However, the winter has passed without bankruptcy and summer and its heat is already well behind us.
What happens to the season’s plans is often like many other New Year’s resolutions, so it is probably worth setting the bar low enough. On the other hand, one has to hope that the summer holiday will coincide with a favourable boating season this time. So here are the objectives.
- Saimaa with both new and familiar destinations
- a more distant lake, such as Pielinen or Päijänne, or smaller water areas of Saimaa
- islands in the Eastern Gulf of Finland National Park
The Scamp project has been on the back burner for months now but as spring comes it should be easier to focus on it too, as proper ventilation and sawing outdoors are possible again. Of course, the end of the heating season also simplifies getting the right temperature for the epoxy in the workshop.
Let’s hope the coming sailing season starts early and is a long one!
