Suuri Lintusaari
As lake waters started to be warm enough for swimming we wanted to have a trip to an island which would provide a good shore for swimming. As an easterly wind was prevailing we chose Suuri Lintusaari island which felt like a great option.
We enjoyed of a gentle breeze which blew 2-4 m/s in the morning and 5-6 m/s in the afternoon. The sky was clear that made the weather warm. When rigging, Sarastus was praised by a cyclist who passed by and on water by a rowing boat owner (who we passed by).
On the island we had lunch and did some swimming. I have to say that it’s hard to beat the sandy beach of Suuri Lintusaari because and the view in front of it. It’s a true hidden gem on Lake Saimaa.
Our start and end point was Myllylahti which has a quite tricky slipway. You would need a four wheel drive to manage on it confidently. We recovered the boat by relying on a helper rope to get the her out of the water.
The day was fine and everybody were happy about the trip. The recent warm days were an unexpected but pleasant surprise.
