Lough Derg

Lough Derg (of Shannon) is a medium-sized lake in Ireland. The landscape is dominated by hills, woods and fields. As there aren’t any natural harbours in the lake, the sailors only moor in small marinas, like Portumna, Killaloe, Dromineer, Terryglass, Mountshannon and Garrykennedy.

For a Finnish dinghy cruising sailor the hilly landscape looks fascinating. The lake itself is small and has limited number of destinations. Even if there aren’t any natural harbors the small marinas are nice destinations to stop by and to explore the villages next to them.
